Anyone want to comment on having the picnic in the middle of the state for a change? I for one am tired of driving, almost every time we have any event, clear across the state. It was nice to have the party at Rob and Fred's for all those years, but we could have as much fun without the pools. I could check into reserving a place in Columbia, Mo. at a state park. After all it is the hawks and falconers not the volleyball and pool that brings most to the event! Bob Payne

Bob, you are absolutely right about the picnic ~ that it would be nice at a state park minus the swimming pool. We have been spoiled these past years with a grand spread that has been graciously given us from our hosts that will be hard to match. The burden the picnic puts on individuals having the affair at their home has become quite a work load and plans have already been underway for securing a site in the St. Louis area for this years picnic. Maybe next year we could have it in the Columbia area?

I complety agree Rob theres shouldnt be fighting.Because one eople really doing any thing are getting so much greif from certin members of the club and all are invite to this years picnic and its not for personal agendas its for the benifit of the club and the continuation of falconry in missouri and public awarness there shouldnt be any worry about were the meet is because it should be close to the people hosting the event so there is easy asseiblity. and you are right about fred and tom and mindy they are great people and desereve a little more respect then they have been given in resent time I for one like to see every one working together on things and maybe a little more voting and less freelance

The picnic this year was great! The guest speaker reminded me of how much fun I had with my first red tail, and how much fun he was to train.
The workshops were great! It was fun making a lure I could use for training! Doing the braided leash was great too.
The company was good, I was able to reinforce some friendships.
The only downside to the picnic was the heat. Any other place the picnic would have been held would have had the same problem.
A great big thank you to Tom, Mindy, and all the other people who stepped up and offered a hand with the picnic.

I would like to say a BIG thank you to Joe's Mom and Dad and Mike Mallett for cooking all the BBQ in the extreme heat. Joe for all the help setting up, the leash workshop, the raffle. Catherine and Randy Simmons for the help with registration and dues and staying late at night with the clean up. Steve Heying and Mike Mallett for the same! Bill Brandel with the morning help (I needed those rocks!). All the kids helping with the huge raffle and I think they all enjoyed the "jack rabbit" pinata! Mr. Greg Thomas from Indiana as our guest speaker. Dennis Samnee for his hood demo and all the other falconers that gave the lure and trap demos. I missed the demos and guest speaker because I was attending to the raffle :(. A big huge thank you to my daughter Megan, who, like last year set up the raffle. I don't think it would have been as successful without her. Thanks to all the members that brought food and raffle items. Lastly....Tom who put your heart and soul into the whole affair and created one of the best workshops, program and events ever! This year was definitely an affair for the apprentices! There has been many suggestions to move the picnic to September next year because of the extreme heat and I for one agree. Hope to see you all at the first field meet in October!

We counted over 82 members, family, friends and guests that came out and battled the extreme heat. I want to thank each and every one that came out to support our club!
Please consider sending a thank you to the vendors if you were one of the lucky ones to win a prize or please support them by buying some new equipment for the upcoming season and thank them for supporting the Missouri Falconers Association! The raffle is the only fund raising event we have and the main source of income for the club. Be safe, be cool for the remainder of the summer and good luck with your new/or old birds. Hope to see you in the fields this fall!
